About the speciality

Compression therapy uses controlled pressure to increase blood flow in the legs and also to improve blood flow to the heart. At the same time, it decreases swelling and supports your veins.

Compression Therapy is a well-researched treatment to:

  • manage vein problems
  • manage lymphedema (swelling) and pain in the legs
  • prevent blood clots after surgery
  • help wound healing, specifically ulcers
  • manage leg pain symptoms during pregnancy
  • improve chronic venous insufficiency and ulcer recurrence in older adults

A more recent use for compression therapy is to aid in athletic performance or workout recovery. Research on athletic use has had mixed results, though.

Benefits:

  • Increases blood flow / circulation
  • Promotes healing and recovery
  • Decreases muscle fatigue after acute exercise

Compression Therapy also helps you recover faster between workouts by reducing muscle soreness and improving circulation.

How is the compression therapy done?

We use NormaTec!

NormaTec is the leader in rapid recovery, it is an innovative technology that uses air pressure massage to relieve muscle aches and/or pain and to temporarily increase circulation to the treated areas. Many leading athletes, trainers and fitness enthusiasts around the world currently use this technology.

In sports and training it is often said that the best ability for an athlete is their avail-ability – meaning it doesn’t matter how strong, fast or powerful you are if you are constantly unable to train and/or compete. To help optimise your recovery and back up your training sessions, book in today and try the NormaTec Compression!

We have both the full compression boot, as well as hip attachment available to target full lower body recovery.

FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions

What is compression therapy, and how does it work?

Compression therapy involves the use of special garments or devices that apply controlled pressure to specific areas of the body. This pressure helps improve circulation, reduce swelling, and enhance the body's natural healing process, especially in areas affected by injury or poor circulation.

What conditions can benefit from compression therapy?

Compression therapy can help manage a variety of conditions, including chronic venous insufficiency, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), lymphedema, sports injuries, muscle soreness, and general swelling or inflammation in the legs or arms.

How long does a compression therapy session last?

A typical compression therapy session lasts between 20 to 30 minutes. However, the duration may vary depending on the individual's needs and the type of therapy being used. Your therapist will guide you based on your condition and recovery goals.

Is compression therapy safe for everyone?

Compression therapy is generally safe, but it may not be suitable for individuals with certain conditions like severe arterial disease or skin infections. It’s important to consult with a healthcare provider before starting compression therapy to ensure it’s appropriate for your health condition.
